Pavilion, New Holland Island
Director: Andrey Kachalyan
Duration: 32 minutes
«Interview» focuses on the artist’s experience of failure. It begins as a piece about successful public people, entrepreneurs and businessmen. Then it considers how impossible this all is from a professional point of view (in terms of problems in the manufacturing sector and the artist’s suitability), and gradually leads to a reflection on the difficulties of socializing a young artist. The artist’s attempts to apply existing criteria for success to his own life, or to somehow borrow strategies of successful behavior, come to naught. All that is left to the artist is to proclaim his inability to meet his own needs while remaining within the art system.
